I shared this on my son's Facebook page this morning, and because I have the opportunity to reach so many other young people, I want to share this with you as well.
10 Things you must decide today (and everyday) when you wake
up:
(1)
Your feet won't hit the floor without first
acknowledging that it was Yahweh who woke you; thank Him for doing so.
(2)
Today will be a day that you honor the LORD for
giving you another opportunity to honor Him.
(3)
You will put your maximal effort into the opportunities
and space that you are in right now as it will pay off and provide future
opportunities and spaces that you want later.
(4)
You will speak with one of your mentors (other adults who have the knowledge and experience
to share with you the tools, resources, and wisdom to make the most of your
present opportunities and spaces as you go forward into new opportunities and
spaces).
(5)
Helping, encouraging, praying with or for
someone else is not a chore or some activity to engage in, but an everyday part
of your life…you will be sure to do so today because you are privileged and
blessed to do so.
(6)
Bible study is not a weekly event that you
attend with a group of people who attend the same weekly event for an hour or
so, but it is as necessary as getting that food your body craves each day. You are what you eat. (see Acts 17:28, you
may also refer to song posted on your page on 2/15/13 ).
(7)
Scripture memorization is not just to have handy
quotes, deep or witty sayings available to you for various situations (though
they do come in handy at various times) but they are the source and substance
of your life, for they speak of Jesus, and He is the substance of your
life. You cannot live without Him.
(8)
The way your treat others is a direct reflection
of those who have sacrificed, labored with, labored for, poured out, poured in,
prayed with, prayed for, cried with,
cried for, believe in, and love you. Don’t disrespect them, by disrespecting
yourself (behaving in any manner that speaks less of you than you are).
(9)
You are a Man of God. That is neither chore, nor
sacrifice, but a great honor. The base actions and activities of the world will
try to convince you otherwise – THEY LIE! Noblesse Oblige.
(10) If for some reason you
forget to do any or all of these things on any given day, forgive yourself and
move forward knowing that God forgives you, still loves you, still has a plan
and a purpose for you (refer to arm ink) and it is never too late to be what
you could have been.
